Do you procrastinate?
How are those New Year’s Resolutions coming along?
If you joined a gym in January (or know someone who did), you were probably encouraged to book some sessions with a personal trainer.
“Another chance for them to make some money from me”, you might have thought. But before you dismiss it, making a commitment to someone like a personal trainer does make you do more than you would on your own.
If you set a goal to get a six-pack or tighter legs, bum and tum by the summer, you’ve got a much better chance of achieving that goal if you’ve got someone pushing and encouraging you.
The same applies to Coaching. You may not know it, but Life Coaching and Business Coaching both have their roots in Sports Coaching. Sports people know that having the right attitude and constantly stretching their comfort zones is what drives them to achieve more.
In the same way, people in all walks of life are discovering that it’s a lot easier to achieve your goals if you’ve got someone who’s on your side, keeping you motivated.
Are you procrastinating about something that’s in your own best interests?
Whether it’s learning a new skill, making a life- changing decision or biting the bullet and having that conversation you’ve been dreading, working with your own personal Coach could give you the motivation and confidence to finally do it.

Here are five steps to dealing with procrastination:
- Be clear about what you need to do. Often people put things off because they’re not sure what to do next.
- Think about WHY you should do it. There’s no point beating yourself up over something if there’s no good reason for doing it in the first place.
- If you know what to do next and why you should be doing it, it’s time to dig a bit deeper and ask yourself “What’s stopping me?”.
- If your answer is something along the lines of “I don’t have the time”, there are two choices – either find the time or get someone else to do it!
- But if your answer is “I don’t want to do it”, ask yourself what are the implications of not doing it and imagine how great you’ll feel when it’s finally done. It’s amazing how draining it can be constantly putting something off. It literally zaps your energy.
